Beneficiary of a 3 Bedroom House
Nange Emmanuella’s journey with Irina Project Initiative from hardship to hope, capturing the resilience and kindness that transformed her life. Nange Emmanuella is native of Kom, an indigenous community close to a popular town called Bamenda in the northwest region of Cameroon. It came to our knowledge that one faithful evening she was crouched under a temporary shelter, her arm embracing her youngest child, sheltering him from the cold wind barreling through Njinikom, the Northwest region of Cameroon. To top it all off, the turbulence in the area became the straw that broke the camel’s back for the struggling family. Abandoned by her husband, and in charge of four children, who were writing their fate, every sunrise found her uncertain about where the next meal will come from and where they will find a safe place to sleep.
Notwithstanding her heaviness, Emmanuella was still standing firm. She worked relentlessly, filling in every vacancy she found, though it was of no help. The kids were there, innocent and full of dreams, skipping over the understanding of what was really going on, so in their believe she had been the only person able to help the situation. The days were so tedious and the nights seemed eternal, however, she was not ready to wallow in self-pity.
On the other side, Irin Njuakom founder of the Irina Project Initiative which an NGO striving tackles the ills of the less privileged, happened top crossed paths of Emmanuella on March 05, 2024 during one of her routing visits to the Kom community where she grew up. Irina had heard many stories of suffering, and yet there was something in Emmanuella’s story that she could not remain indifferent to, and it became her desire to assist her. Pledged to be with her so that she did not feel all alone, she became Emanuella’s friend, she listened, she felt her pain. It was on that date when Irin through her NGO decided Emmanuella will be next beneficiary of Irina Projects Initiative’s aids.
How every job like that ended is an expression of the good hearts of humanity. VIA Irina Project Initiative, plans were made so that they could get a house. They began the work almost immediately. It was a joyous moment when the house was finally done even though it was in a region that had many challenges as the people and workers had to come together to build a house where Emmanuella’s family was going to live in peace. For every time a brick is put in its place and a nail is hammered, hope is stirred. The kids marveled, as they watched the construction of the new building, which was their home, their laughter ringing all around.
The house was ready by April 2024, a modest but strong construction which promised both security and coziness. When Emmanuella got in for the first time, she was crying her heart out. She had to spend so many nights praying for a miracle and boom! It was there. Her children ran back and forth around the rooms, their eyes lighting up with awe and happiness. Emmanuella felt safe for the first time in a long while.
Life began to change. With a shelter above their heads, Emmanuella could focus on rebuilding her life. The Irina Project Initiative, her main supporter, stood by her, helping her to find various ways to get a steady income. Her children started school, their future now seemed like a life-open field instead of the valley of despair. The burden of uncertainty was cast away, replaced by a new yearning consistency.
On evenings, as the sun is setting behind the hills, Emmanuella sits outside her new house, enjoying the view of her kids playing. She was not anxious anymore about where they will sleep or whether they would have enough food. She has received a new chance not only to live, but to enjoy the life she had.
Emmanuella’s story is no longer a narrative of pain but now that of unknown strength, kindness, and hope. And the silent time, her children’s joyous noise and the warmth of her new house makes her aware of the fact that even after all this she had been through, their future is still bright and promising.
